Dick Formica is a seasoned executive with over 40 years in leadership and management positions of increasing responsibility. He has led and guided large organizations, training Soldiers and civilians to achieve multiple objectives in complex environments. With extensive experience in multi-national and joint service operations, combined with recent senior executive experience in space operations and missile defense, Dick brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a Stellar Advisor.
Currently serving as the Vice President for Strategic Accounts at CALIBRE, Dick retired from the U.S. Army in October 2013 as a Lieutenant General following 36 years of service. A career field artillery/fire support officer with experience in leadership, operations, and training, he went on to gain senior executive level experience in force management and space and missile defense.
His most significant military positions included Commanding General, Combined Security Assistance Command – Afghanistan; Joint Fires and Effects Coordinator/Force Field Artillery Commander in Multi-National Corps – Iraq; Deputy Director Political – Military Affairs (NATO/Europe) on the Joint Staff; and as the Director of Force Management for the U.S. Army.
His final assignment was as the Commanding General, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command’s Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense.
Dick’s foundational core competencies include leadership and training, teambuilding, outreach and mentoring, organizational (force) management, resource optimization, operations management, contract and vendor negotiations.
