Jim Whitmore is a retired U.S. Air Force Major General with over 35 years of service and brings to Stellar Solutions more than 20 years of senior executive experience in all aspects of personnel, administration, operations, and management.
His background includes the full spectrum of leadership from commanding a 350-person fighter squadron to Chief Operating Officer for a 90,000+ personnel headquarters, culminating in assignment as Director, Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration at Air Education and Training Command (AETC).
An innovative, proven manager and team builder with an excellent track record in highly complex and demanding environments, Jim was tested under fire in the front office of the Secretary of Defense as the Executive Secretary for DoD and as a wing commander leading combat operations in Afghanistan for 13 months. He also commanded the largest technical training wing in the U.S. Air Force, producing more than 80,000 qualified Airmen annually.
Since leaving active duty, Jim has managed an independent consulting business specializing in support for defense related activities in the operational and training arenas. He is a seasoned, customer focused professional and effective communicator well versed in strategic planning, financial management and programming, and process improvement.
Jim currently represents the San Antonio area as a state Commissioner for the governor’s Texas Military Preparedness Commission, has served on the Advisory Council for USO San Antonio for more than six years, and is also on the Board of Directors for Blue Skies of Texas (formerly known as Air Force Villages).
