A passionate and energetic transformational senior leader who has successfully led innovation and change through every position held, Ron Lloyd brings his tremendous executive experience to Stellar Solutions as a Stellar Advisor.
Retiring from the Royal Canadian Navy after 38 years of service, Ron attained the rank of Vice Admiral and served as the 35th Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy. In that position he commanded approximately 15,000 personnel which required an overall departmental operations and maintenance budget of more than $2B and a recapitalization program of approximately $70B. He was also the Acting Vice Chief of the Defence Staff during the release of Canada’s Defence Policy Strong, Secure and Engaged in addition to be the first Chief Data Officer for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence.
With expansive command and staff expertise, Ron led his organizations to significant recognitions beyond the military arena. Under his leadership, the Royal Canadian Navy was recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Top Employers of Choice (Public Sector) while being the only organization within Canadian Defence to be so honored. Additionally, he directed the Royal Canadian Navy’s business intelligence implementation program which earned an SAP Sapphire Award for best use of big data in Canada.
With multiple command tours throughout his career, Ron was the first Royal Canadian naval officer to command both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. As Chief Force Development, he led a small team which identified bold efficiencies of 5 and 10% savings within the operations and maintenance budget for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence for government consideration.
